Buying a swimming pool is a big decision. It can be exciting and challenging at the same time. Our goal is to help you get all your questions answered! We don't have salesmen and we love to talk about pools. We bring 28 years of expertise to your project. With a career that began on a crew based in Oregon that constructed and renovated swimming pools across the Pacific Northwest, Jim Schmidt learned early what makes pools fail and knew he could provide a higher quality product.

Report
Our designers use computer aided drafting systems to develop comprehensive plans across all phases of your project. The goal is to locate the pool so that it receives the maximum available sunlight during swimming hours. In the conceptual plan considerations are: setbacks from lot lines, primary and secondary focal points, prevailing wind direction, location of walks and patios, filtration system location, drainage and landscaping.

I have had them come out to my home several times for pool repair and maintenance for minor repairs to the pool plumbing to a burst pipe under the concrete. All work was completed very timely and professionally and at a very reasonable price. They can be a challenge to reach sometimes but as a fellow small business in the area, it can be extremely challenging to keep up with all of the phone calls and requests for work in the valley. I would absolutely recommend them to anybody and will continue to use their services.

Update based on March 2021 repair work: 20+ year pool plaster company removed all plaster and found the bonding layer for the plaster was not properly prepared for adherence and some of the concrete they used to build up top portion had pieces of plastic in it and was crumbling! Really disappointed in Jim. 5 years ago he provided a quote, which then was completed 4 years ago when the overall home was finished to overhaul our gunite pool (replaster, squared corners, new plumbing, lights, equipment, auto cover, etc.) but now that all the plaster is cracking he blames it on his subcontractor who only provided a 1 year warranty apparently (when others I call say at least 5 and up to 10 is typical), will not stand behind his work, and does not return messages or information promptly.
None of this was explained to us upfront nor anywhere throughout the process. After asking for help, other than sending the "warranty" (which is first time receiving it after the fact), I am having to find my own help to get the work redone, which at minimum I would have expected him to follow through on. The one time Jim did answer his phone after repeatedly trying to call he said he would help find options, but never followed through. USE WITH CAUTION. He has done some amazing pools for Andre Agassi, etc., but too busy to help folks like me from what it seems when problems arise.

We had Jim build our pool in the fall of 2018. He and his crew were pleasant to work With during construction. We had a few disagreements on some of the charges along the way. Change orders were not written up so we were shocked at additional charges towards the end of the build. ( to avoid conflict we paid in full) When we wanted issues addressed it was hard to get a timely response.
Communication was not great. However our biggest complaint is that our first season with the pool several coping stones began to pop off and grout was crumbling into the pool. Jim sent someone out to fix it and the stones were put on crooked and at different heights. We asked that it be fixed and were met with resistance and resentment. Now it's our second season with a very expensive pool and 75% of the stones are popping off and much of our grout has cracked and fallen out.
We had an estimate to have it fixed and it came in at $3-$5 thousand. The pictures aren't great and I didn't post all the grout lines that are now completely Gone. Once the grout falls out the stones detach and become unsafe to walk on. Big disappointment. Our new pool looks old and unkept after just one and a half pool seasons. I can't speak to other builds he has done but this is an honest review of our experience with CHI.

Reading from the other reviews I'm not too shocked that I've called 3 times now to get a bid to do a pool for next year (2021) and have received no call back from "Jim". On 3 different occasions over the last 2 months I've called C.H.I pools to get a quote. I talk to the receptionist lady on the phone who assures me this time Jim will call me back, and still nothing.
I certainly don't want to do business with someone who doesn't return my calls before even getting my money. If you want to run a successful business you should probably return calls.or fire your receptionist who isn't forwarding the messages. Taking my business elsewhere.

We had a 20X40 pool constructed by CHI Aquatech. We found during the entire process that patience was important because they tend to be too optimistic with their scheduling. The most troubling is that unless you are planning on a state of the art, huge pool in Sun Valley, you will find yourself at the bottom of the company's importance level.
At the time of this review, we are mostly happy with the basic construction job. We had them pour a concrete patio during the pool build. It has major cracks in several places. The pool itself is so far crack free. Our pool has an automatic pool cover which has not worked correctly since it was new. Time and time again we call for service, and it takes months to get these guys to come out.
When they do, it is a frustrating process. A guy will look things over and say that it's not installed correctly or something. Then they need to come back. Weeks go by. Finally a partial fix. Repeat. Pros: They were good at helping us decide the shape and picking the sanitizer and filter equipment. They had a fair price. The pool is usable about three quarters of a season. Cons: Our biggest problem is been the pool cover.
It is a total failure. We have asked them to refund the money for the cover so we could get another. No luck. This company sells itself on service after the sale. It is nonexistent. You have to call time and time again just to get a basic response. Our pool has been unusable for weeks on end while we waited for them to come. Unfortunately, I would not recommend them because of the lack of support. I would find a company that is able to service what they build. Mark in Eagle

Called and asked for someone to come give an estimate to build a pool. Jim came to my home and we talked for about an hour. When he left, I gave him my email address to send the estimate to. About a week and a half went by but no estimate. I called to inquire about the estimate and was told by Jim that he got the impression that it was too expensive when he "ball parked it"!
He then went on to say that "people" from California come here and expect to get a pool for 20K and there are pool builders who will build a pool for that fee but he was not one of them. The take away here is this: Jim, don't ever let an impression dictate the proper and professional way that you should do business. I am a believer in that if you tell someone you will do something, then follow thru and do it. I didn't appreciate the lack of follow thru and I certainly didn't appreciate the comment about Californians.
